Passing Through

At the beginning there was just a bench. Then memories wouldn't fit on it, so there became two. Searching through our memory we realized: the bench is a unique part of our personal story, a memento, a symbol, a keeper of life's important moments. It tells, it speaks to us through its existence. We looked at it and countless stories, moments, emotions emerged, all speaking about us, about the bonds between us, about time's unstoppable passage. We sit and hope that things in the world can change, that we are able to meet and part, to be together and let go. Whether near or far, whether alone or together.

Vasilisa

Vasilisa – after her mother dies and gives her a doll for protection – is left alone. Her father remarries, but her stepmother and stepsister treat her cruelly. One evening the fire in the house deliberately goes out, and the stepmother sends Vasilisa deep into the forest to the feared witch Baba Yaga to bring back fire. The witch sets the girl challenging tasks: cleaning, cooking, sorting grain all in a single night.

Vasilisa's story is our story: how we cope with everyday challenges, with greater trials, how we grow from adolescence into adulthood. How we connect with our family, what legacy we carry into our own lives.

The piece follows the path to adulthood, hoping that the love between us can provide help in every difficult situation.
