Aim of the workshop:

Participants will become acquainted with the fundamentals of leather craftsmanship, various types of leather, their properties and potential uses, as well as the basic tools and equipment used in leather work. They will learn the most important steps in leather processing and will master basic techniques through practical tasks.

Over the four days, participants will create a unique leather accessory, during which they will try out and practice various braiding and lacing techniques. Through the working process, they will experience how leather can be shaped into different forms, and how braiding and lacing can create decorative yet durable ornamental elements.

Participants will also make a pencil case with dimpled, embossed decoration. While creating this object, they will learn the basic operations of leather decoration and shaping, including stamping, snap fastener setting, gluing, and two-needle stitching. They will also become familiar with the fundamentals of professional leather edge finishing and surface treatment of the completed object.

Through practical work, participants will develop their manual dexterity, material knowledge and creativity, while learning to apply traditional leather craftsmanship techniques in the creation of contemporary, functional objects.
