XXII. Guildford Folk Dance Workshop: Dances of the Küküllő Region
We warmly welcome everyone (regardless of experience level, both beginners and advanced dancers) to our next folk dance workshop.
When leading and responding become true dialogue
What often happens in dance houses:
the girls wait for the dance,
the boys search for courage.
This course was created to change that.
We don't simply learn steps, but rather
how a man is present in the dance —
how he leads, keeps rhythm and space,
how the dance becomes a safe, living and joyful experience for both partners.
A man's leading only becomes real
when there is someone who responds to it:
who signals back, moves, accepts
or gently corrects.
During the shared dance, the boys immediately experience
what truly works,
what gives security and experience to their partner.
The girls are not present as "study material,"
but as inspiration:
they provide the living medium
in which what is learned becomes dance.
Because a female dancer most often doesn't seek figures,
but a secure feeling:
that she can trust herself to the dance.
Course structure
Separate men's and women's training
basics, rhythm, posture, leading, the system of motifs
Küküllő-region stamping dances, lapád girls' circle dance
folk songs of special character, playful vocal games
Küküllő-region couple dance, where it all comes alive
Why Küküllő-region?
Because it provides a system.
Complex material, yet logical structure —
brings intensive development in a short time.
Whoever becomes at home in this
moves more confidently in other dances too.
If you would like to
enter the circle with confidence,
not just survive but truly experience the dance
experience real connection in the dance
come dance with us.
