During the programme, the speaker will present selections primarily from the permanent and temporary exhibitions of Belgian, French and Swedish textile museums. In the lecture, the speaker will draw from the collections of the Brussels and Bruges lace museums, Ghent and Kortrijk textile museums, and the French Calais machine-made lace museum, as well as the Swedish Dalecarlia, Vadstena and Gävle city museums.

Bobbin-worked lace is the earliest type of worked lace, which branched off from one branch of passementerie production and developed into an independent textile technique. The later continuance of this technique can also be found in folk laces (for example Sárkőz, Torockó, and the Zobor region).

Our programme is supported by the National Cultural Fund and the Hungarian Heritage House.
