The Kallós Zoltán Foundation will organize the Youth Folk Music and Dance Camp again in 2026, this time between June 28 and July 5 in Válaszút! The camp holds special significance, as 2026 is the memorial year of Zoltán Kallós, ethnographer and folk music collector – this year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth. For this occasion, we await young people interested in folk music and dance with an even richer professional program and unforgettable experiences.
If you are between 12 and 17 years old and would like to deepen your knowledge of Mezőség traditions, this is the place for you! In the camp, experienced dance instructors, excellent musicians and authentic tradition-bearers will guide you into the magical world of Mezőség culture.
Dance instruction:
• For beginners – general Mezőség dance material: Zsolt Csaba Tőkés and Edit Tőkés
• For advanced dancers – Bonchida dances: Tibor Feketelaki and Melinda Székely
New in 2026:
• Instrumental instruction available to all participants!
We welcome intermediate and advanced young musicians, who will be taught by the Üsztürü Band, coordinated by András Sinkó. Participants will gain insight into the special world of Feketelaki music.
• Separate folk song instruction for those interested in folk singing, led by Bogi Szabó, singing teacher at the Kallós Zoltán Folk Music School.
Among the camp's guests will be the famous Palatkai Band and the Bagó Band, who with their enthusiastic work and presence will complete the experience. Additionally, we are preparing numerous exciting master classes, evening dance houses and community programs.
Registration:
Registration opens on February 2 on the Kallós Zoltán Foundation website and Facebook page.
Don't miss this special occasion – join us and explore together the world of folk music, dance and Mezőség traditions!
