I am Magyar Zsuzsi and Nagy Józsi, leaders of the Tititá Dance Workshop and parents of 3 small children.
Over the years, more and more parents with small children like us have joined us, and our own dancers have become parents, so we realized an old dream the year before last by organizing Tititá's first family camp - but not a children's camp! Last year, the second edition was already held to a full house with great interest.
Our camp is a family camp where children and their parents are present at the same time, where the programs are not just for children, but also for adults, because we have experienced that there is a need for you adults to dance folk dances again - even if not at the evening, we know, not family-friendly rehearsal times - but together, with your partner or other dancers in an intensive few summer days.
Meanwhile, we also involve the kids in the world that is close to your hearts and ours, where they can naturally be part of the world of Hungarian folk culture and village everyday life, spending the whole day in the fresh air.
So the dance teaching is for adults (it is not mandatory to participate, nor to come with a partner, everything happens the same way as at regular rehearsals), but during the rehearsals we have trained assistants and animators look after the children, occupy them, and of course we also involve them in the camp's dance and singing programs, so that their parents' hobby becomes natural for them too! Because where the parent is happy, the child is happy too. That's why we end every day with a small family dance.
During the adult dance rehearsals, the kids not only get to "hang out" together, but while the parents learn the tititá from us, we keep them busy with folk games, nursery rhymes, children's folk dances, craft activities, instrument demonstrations, children's yoga, etc.
In the camp, programs outside of rehearsals (such as excursions, meals) take place with the children, and we adapt the daily schedule and accommodation arrangements typical of dance camps to a family-friendly format, tailored to the needs of families with children (e.g. meals, evening programs, various types and price ranges of accommodation options, etc.).
